I don't know about you, but motherhood is freaking hard to me! I had definitely thought about the type of parent I would be when I was younger. And being pregnant totally makes you think about it non-stop. So how difficult is it being a stay at home momma? Or hell, just being a mother?
People always said was that it was going to be hard. Ok I thought. I know hard. I know sleepless nights (by choice). I know tired (Ironman training/working double shifts/etc). But what failed to get in my brain was how hard it really was going to be years down the road. Yes as pregnant women we figure we won't sleep much once the baby comes. Everyone tells you that! But what you fail to know is that being tired is now a whole NEW level. Then let's slap on being a stay at home momma. There is no better word for life now than HARD.
Don't get me wrong, I love my children and love my choice to be with them. All. The. Time.
So what do I do to help with how different life is from what I dreamt it would be? I remember to love myself. I remember to try to not lose myself in them. Ladies - yes that means showering every damn day! That means brushing my teeth. That means, finding alone time! So thankfully I am finding a way to balance all of it. I wish I would go on more runs. And will some day soon. I do love having a blog, a business, and train-playing time with the kiddos.
What I do want to let you momma's know is this - You Are Not Alone!
I have rough days, bad days, and totally awesome days! But what people don't tell you is that finding momma friends helps a ton! Doing something just for you is needed! And girlfriend, it will be hard, but totally worth it! (shoot as I'm typing this, my son has hit delete a few too many times for my patience today and yet told me he loves his sister - all in a matter of moments) So enjoy the ride mommas and know you are not alone in the HARDEST thing you will ever do!
